happy belated one year anniversary

17 03 2009

It’s been a year since I met my MacBook at the IT Show in 2008. It was in a box staring at me. I could feel the attraction between us but I ignored and walked to the Vaios booth. Not long after, I find myself walking aimlessly in the crowd and there it was, staring at me again. Deja vu. I went over, pick up a brochure and compared the prices. It was cheaper to the Vaios I intended to buy, but the specifications were not really “ohmyfuckinggod!” There were three models.

The entry, mid and high end model. I don’t want the combo drive, but I don’t want the black casing either. So I went with the mid model. By this time, my mind had been made up. I gave a big smile to my dad. Without hesitation, he took out his credit card from his wallet.

I asked for assistant and pointed on my brochure. David walked over to the huge batch of boxes with the word “MacBook” printed on it. My eyes were on him for every step he took. He took the box beside the box that was staring at me all these while and came towards me.

“Have you considered the extended warranty?” he asked.
“Stop.” I said.

I walked towards the box that had stared at me for a while. I told David to walk to where I was.

“Does this one has the same specifications as the one I wanted?” I asked David while pointing to the “deja vu” box.
“Yes” he replied.

I forced the box that he was holding back to the batch of boxes.

“No, I do not want extended warranty for now.” I said as I picked up my “deja vu” box and walked towards the payment counter. That was one year ago. Now, I’m typing this post on my MacBook. It’s one year old and still going strong. I’ve already purchased my extended warranty a few weeks ago to prevent murphy’s law because I love this computer.

Happy belated anniversary, MacBook.
