Edited: Added summary of day 2.
Day 1
It was cold. It was dark. I couldn’t see anything. I tried to take a peep at my watch with the help of the street lamps. Not long after, I’ve reached my first destination. I opened the door and place my left foot onto the tarmac. Camera flashes were all around. I had to protect my eyes with my custom made Armani Sunglasses for Man. I gave a wave to the crowd. I heard cheers. People threw me their flowers, love and their lingerie. I smiled and proceeded to walk gracefully on the red carpet. The check-in counter wasn’t ready yet, hence my body guards continued to shoo people away. During the waiting time, I took some photos.
Alas, my security guard, Victor, whispered into my ear that we are ready to proceed to the immigration. As I handed the police officer my passport and boarding pass for checking, I couldn’t help to notice but to see her smiling at me. I ignored and proceeded t0 the immigration. All went well. It was time I felt like a normal person. We went shopping and had dinner at Brewerkz to kill the 1 hour and 30 minutes we had.
Then it was time to board and we got onto China Eastern Airlines. It was pure torture. One of the worst flights I’ve ever been on. Anyway, we had to stop over in Shanghai before proceeding to Dalian. Upon reaching Shanghai, my first sneeze came. During transit, we decided to have breakfast! Unfortunately, no pictures of that except for my hot chocolate.
After 5 hours (including breakfast and flight time), we reached Dalian. The tour guide decided that we should proceed back to the hotel for an afternoon nap before beginning our shopping fiesta.
After my first nap since the flight from Singapore, we proceeded to some unknown places for shopping. During that shopping time allocated by our tour guide, we went to Starbucks for some hot chocolate and cheesecake for warming up. Then we walked around and I found this strawberries on a stick thingy. I don’t know what it’s called but it taste good. It was then I saw they were selling balloons for 5RMB. I had to buy one.
Day 2
The time was 05:32 in the morning. It was during this time I received a morning call from Victor. I woke up, put on my bunny slippers and took a peep outside the window. Everything was still dark. Hence, I thought it’d be wise to wash up and prepare for breakfast. At 06:30 sharp, I opened my hotel door. My bodyguards were already standing there, waiting for yours truly to be escorted. Ironically, the breakfast restaurant opens at 06:30, so I managed to be the first. Breakfast was HORRIBLE with a capital H. After breakfast (I don’t want to waste time describing it), we began the tour. The first destination was the Japan-Russia prison. Unfortunately, taking pictures at a prison doesn’t really excite me. Next was the Lushun Port. Whatever that is, all I understand it’s a place for the military to control entrance to the Bohai Sea.
BORING. Next, we proceeded to the Victory Tower. It was built to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the victory by the former USSR Red Army against the Japanese Guandong Army in 1945. The upper part of the tower is gold plated and topped with the Red Start that symbolises victory.
Then we decided to have fun with the D90…
After that, we proceeded to Centenary City Sculpture. It is staged on the Xinghai Square. It is characterised as a huge open book, or a pair of soaring wings. The bronze bas-relief on the center of the sculpture is actually a stretching road which is 80 meters long with the footprints.
And then it was time to proceed back to the hotel.
Day 3 will be out soon. All photos are taken by the Nikon D90. Information on places adapted from © 2008 Hong Thai Travel.
